What is a Pediatric Dentist?
A pediatric dentist, also called a pedodontist, is a dentist who has completed additional training that is focused on care for infants, children, adolescents, and the handicapped. A pedodontist will generally see patients prior to or at the time of eruption of the first tooth until teenage. In addition, many pediatric dentists will provide care to handicapped youth and adults. Preventive care and providing a good early experience with dentistry are especially important to pediatric dentists.
Off To A Healthy Start
When should children start to see the dentist? As soon as they have teeth! Regular visits are important to prevent problems and also to treat areas of concern before the problem becomes too complex, painful, or expensive. The earlier a problem is detected and treated, the more comfortable your child will be.
